Broker's Comments

Oyster Marine built 65 Oyster 435s between 1983 and 1995 making it the second most popular Oyster ever. They make great liveaboards and blue water cruisers, with many having circumnavigated. The owners of this very nice example, winner of the Concours d’Elegance at the Oyster Regatta, Auckland NZ 2003, left the UK for the Canary Islands in September 1993, and in 1995 sailed across the Atlantic Ocean. They cruised the Caribbean and North America for 3 years before transiting the Panama Canal and on to the Galapagos Islands. French Polynesia and Tahiti followed, then New Zealand for the end of the 20th century. After 18 months and a refit they set off for Tonga and cruised the South Pacific islands for 10 years, reaching Darwin in April 2010 where they joined the Sail Indonesia Rally. Since arriving in SE Asia they have cruised mainly between Malaysia and Thailand where, between 2011 and 2013, they had teak decks renewed, hull painted, saloon windows renewed, a major engine overhaul, plus many other cosmetic upgrades. The boat was last hauled in December 2016 for anti fouling, sea cocks servicing, Maxprop rebuild, anodes and a hull polish. The owners feel that, after nearly a quarter of a century and 60,000 miles, they do not want to make the long haul back to the UK and have decided that perhaps it is time for someone else to live the dream. Their philosophy of 'maintain & upgrade' means the boat should be ready for new owners to step aboard and go cruising. She comes with 4 large ring binders of manufacturers' user instructions, plus a folder on 'Procedures' to assist new owner. There is also documentation on wiring diagrams, upgrades, maintenance etc, plus all large bills for servicing, upgrades etc. Original commissioning instructions from 1st owner in 1986 & original design drawings / plans.
