Makelaars opmerking
Thornycroft/Nelson designs are synonymous with fast working craft, patrol boats and the like where sea-keeping qualities at speed were the priority. The Nelson 34, famously built on the Isle of Wight since 1962, were regularly seen on pilot duties or in use by the Royal Navy to ferry officers to their ships. When retired from service they are often fitted out as motor cruisers and enjoyed by owners who appreciate style.
There are many different internal configurations on the same hull. This particular relatively early 34 has the shorter wheelhouse which gives good accommodation forward and then a fantastic cockpit area aft with lots of space for relaxing and entertaining. This layout means she is very easy to move around. The deck is only slightly above pontoon level and so stepping aboard for berthing is as safe as it gets with side decks wide enough to go all around her. Once inboard there are only a couple of wide steps down to the accommodation so again, nice and easy.
This Nelson 34 is just lovely! Still very original with everything you expect from a Nelson of this era and she really appears cared for by an owner who knows what he is doing. She is due some varnish in places but has just gone back afloat so her underwater jobs are done ready for the season.
